What Not to Wear to Court

Here is your guide on what not to wear to court. Sure, I could tell you what you should wear, but I think what is important here is what you should not wear!

I had to go to court the other day regarding child support with my son's father. (How fun was that? Gag.) I was shocked to see several girls walking around in what appeared to be plastic hospital gowns clenched at the waist.  It took me a while to figure out these girls had their ta-tas hanging out or were wearing see through clothing and were FORCED to wear court issued cover-ups. Yikes.

Most courts (if not all!) do have dress codes. You can google the court's location and I'm sure it's posted on their website. Dress codes are not optional, sweets. Unless you want to sport a nice plastic hospital gown, then cover up. (Worse - you may be asked to leave if you show up dressed inappropriately!)

Now, for my list of to what absolutely not to wear to court:

1. Nothing see through! No. No. No. Just don't. Don't show your bra. Don't show your skimpy tank top. Don't show your.... anything. No one wants to see that - especially not the judge.

2. Low cut tops are not welcome. They won't make it past the front door. Cover up that cleavage.

3. No cut out shirts, shorts, pants, etc. Everything should be hole-less. The less skin you show, the better.

4. Mini skirts and booty shorts are off limits. Don't show your back side unless you want to be thrown outside.

5. No shorts at all, actually. Most dress codes prohibit shorts, although it's probably not as strictly enforced.

6. No slogans on the back of your pants. The judge may not find that as "juicy" as you do.

7. Flips flops are not your best shoe choice. Think again.

8. House shoes and slippers are meant to be worn at home, not at court! Bad choice.

9. No sun dresses. Nothing strapless. Nothing sleeveless. No halter tops. No spaghetti straps. Play it safe and no tank tops either.

10. Bare midriffs aren't allowed. No bare skin between tops and bottoms.

11. No inappropriate t-shirts. Stay clear of offensive shirts.

12. Bare backs are prohibited.
13. No spandex or Lycra.

Use your best judgement! Or if your judgement sucks, ask a friend! hah.

Think business casual. If in doubt, ladies, wear a nice black pair of pants and a nice top with black flats. Problem averted.

Best Place to Buy Tights

Colder weather will be here in no time and it will be time to put those bare legs away! I get asked so much, "Those are so cute! Where did you get your tights from?" My answer is, "T.J.Maxx"!

They have the best selection of leg warmers, tights, boot socks, etc. The runner up would be Marshall's.

Best part? They're cheap! You can find great designs for under $10.

Of course, if you're looking for a particular design, you may not find it. They have a random selection and get in new things often.

I get complimented so much on my tights from T.J.Maxx. No one knows I got such a great deal on them. :)

L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss Pucker Up Pink Review & Swatches

L'Oreal Colour Riche LeGloss is described by L'Oreal as "Discover our richest shine indulgence for your lips. New Colour Riche® Le Gloss is infused with ultra-hydrating Omega 3, protective Vitamin E, and Argan Oil for our richest shine experience yet. Wear alone or over your favorite shade of Colour Riche® Lipcolour to customize your look."

The shade pictured above is "Pucker Up Pink". The name is misleading because this product is not pink, at all. It's a sheer nude shade with lots of glitter and shimmer.

I think this is a limited edition shade, since it's not on L'Oreal's website. The shade is still in several of my local stores though.

This gloss is great for layering. I never wear it alone, but always over lipstick. The gloss is very shiny. It's my go-to shade to add a boost of shine and sparkle.

EOS Strawberry Sorbet Lip Balm Review

I noticed EOS lip balm by the check out stand at a few stores I frequent. It wasn't until it started popping up other places - blogs, music videos, etc. - that I decided to try it.

Strawberry Sorbet was my pick. How could you go wrong with strawberry anything? It's my favorite fruit, they smell delicious...how could you screw up strawberry lip balm? Good news? They didn't. The "taste" is great and it smells pleasant.

The formula is not thick or heavy. This is a very light lip balm. I recommend it for wearing under lipsticks or whenever your lips need an extra kick of hydration.

EOS will not save your chapped lips. My lips tend to be dry, but you have to repeatedly re-apply EOS if you want to see a minimal difference.

I keep Strawberry Sorbet in my purse. With the round or egg shape, it's always easy to find amongst all of other beauty supplies in my bottomless handbag. heh.

EOS - or Evolution of Smooth - claims "95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free, packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, to keep your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth."

EOS is great if you're not a big fan of colored lip balms, glosses, or lip sticks. If you want hydrating, EOS is not. It adds a little somethin' something to your lips, but no miracles. I agree with their product description. It keeps your lips "moist".

Maybelline Color Whisper Lust For Blush Review & Swatches

Color Whisper by Maybelline is described as "Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel.
No heavy waxes or oils. Soft, sexy gel-color."

The color I'm reviewing is called Lust For Blush (25). It's a soft, light pink.

Color whisper is not heavy on your lips or sticky. It's slightly mosturizing.

Lust For Blush is a great shade for work. It adds a muted, natural pink tone to your lips. The color has a little bit of shine, as indicated by the photos.

Overall, it's a great shade for everyday wear. I wear it to work often and it stays on great.

White Mountain Kennedy American Flag Boots - Review & Outfit Post

I decided to splurge on a pair of awesome boots this weekend. The White Mountain Kennedy boots are black with American flags on them. They look tough, but still feminine in their cut and style.

They look worn in, but it adds to their charm.

Throw on a sweater dress, scarf and leggings and you're out the door!

For an edgier look, try a black dress with zipper detail and a cropped blue or dark denim jacket.

Pair an aztec print dress with maroon or red tights and the White Mountain Kennedy boots. Finish the look with stacked bangles and a red detail necklace.

A long sleeve dress in blue gray, sunglasses, and a chained & studded necklace go great with these American flag boots.

Dress these boots up with an off-white dress and red blazer!

Of course, you can always put on your skinny jeans, a cable knit sweater and a scarf.

These boots are very comfortable. The boots are wide enough to allow jeans or thick socks to be worn with them. Definitely a great investment.

Tips on What NOT to Wear to Work

You want to be taken seriously, you want a raise, you want to know what to wear for your first day of work, etc. Well, here's what NOT to wear to your office job.

My office is business casual. No, you won't get in trouble if you wear jeans everyday...but should you? No. Remember that every office is different. Your best bet is to observe what co-workers wear.

There are a few guidelines you should follow. Even if you don't get in trouble for your poor clothing choice, you still might lose some office respect.

1. No leggings as pants. If it's cold, you can wear a dress with leggings and nice boots, but that is your cut off.

2. Don't wear jeans everyday. It's an unspoken rule around my office that Friday is "Casual Friday" or jean day. You can come up with 4 other outfits a week, promise.

3. No bare shoulders. Don't go strapless! There is never a time you should break this rule.

4. No tank tops or spaghetti straps. Invest in sleeves. Invest in cardigans. Cover up your shoulders, please.

5. Absolutely no flip flops. Save them for the weekends. You can get away with nice sandals, but you're better off wearing nice flats.

6. No low cut tops. No one needs to see your cleavage. This isn't the club! (Unless you work in a club, then just disregard this whole article.)

7. No short skirts. We had a rule at my middle school. Skirts should extend past your finger tips. I still use this as a guide today.

8. No ripped clothing. No ripped jeans. No shirts with holes. You don't want to look like you just fought the paper shredder and the shredder won.

9. No graphic tees. Plain t-shirts or patterns are acceptable, if dressed up.

10. Don't wear shorts! Not even bermuda shorts.

11. Off the shoulder tops should be left off - and at home. No, you can't get away with one bare shoulder.

12. Nothing sheer. No one needs to see your bits and pieces. I'm sure it'll distract from their daily facebook usage while pretending to work.

Think you can handle that?
